Izidor Leitinger

Classical and Jazz Trumpet

Born December 6 1971 in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia his first musical experience started in primary school playing the clarinet, but found out later on that trumpet was his instrument.

At the age of 9 he joined the local brass band and started attending classes at the Music School in Radlje.

From the age of 15 to 18 he studied at the Secondary School for Music and Ballet in Maribor, Slovenia, as an instrumentalist trumpeter.

In 1991 he was accepted to study at the University for Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, Austria.

In Graz he studied as a concert trumpeter with professor Stanislav Arnold and as a jazz trumpeter with professor Eduard Holnthaner.

As part of his education, he went to the Conservatory of Rotterdam through the Erasmus Exchange programme. In The Netherlands he studied jazz, composition and arranging with among others professor Eric Vloeimans, Bart van Lier, Wim Both.

In 2001 he returned to Slovenia. Currently he is leading the Big Band Radlje, plays with RTV Slovenia Big Band, HGM Jazz Orchestra and performs with The Fool Cool Jazz Orchestra and Zoran Predin.

He was member of the European Jazz Youth Orchestra in 2002 and EJO 2002 in Amiens, performing with Django Bates.

He is at the same time teaching at the Music School in Radlje and at the School for Music and Ballet Jazz department in Ljubljana.

Since Autumn 2004 he now lives between Paris and Ljubljana.
